HUECK – officially authorized for the future use of chromium trioxide

We are pleased to inform, that we are the first and only press plate manufacturer worldwide, who received a single authorization for the future use of chromium trioxide until 2033. Finally, our substantive personnel and financial efforts have paid off and will ensure the security of press plate supplies in the future.

On 25.04.2024, we received positive feedback from the European Commission that our single authorization for the continued use of chromium trioxide has been granted until 31.12.2033. This corresponds to an authorization period of 12 years (retroactively starting from our application date in 2021). This long authorization period values the cautious and responsible use of resources and the focus on health of our employees and our environment. It also contributes to the duty of care as a supplier of press plates in the course of the Supply Chain Act.

Due to the single authorization, the judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union (Case C-144/21) on the annulment of the European Commission’s REACh authorization decision C(2020) 8797 (“CTAC group authorization”) is therefore no longer relevant for HUECK. With the single authorization we are strengthening our role as your reliable and secure supplier for press plates and sending a strong signal in regard to the business continuity and stability of our customers.

Nevertheless we also want to shape the future and are already looking for possible alternatives to chromium trioxide. We are therefore currently investing heavily in our R&D capacities to guarantee a smooth transition into a world of press plates without chromium trioxide.
